Welcome to the 2022’s Winter Guide! This botanical winter wellness guide will help combat those frosty winter nights while bringing in warmth and immunity. As someone who has always despised the cold, I wanted this guide to highlight my favorite ways to bring some warmth and cheer into your household. From spicy ginger candy to a steaming mug of hot cocoa, this guide will help warm your bones and give you some much-needed immune boost.
Winter is the time of self-reflection, a time to reconnect with yourself as the chilly weather sets in and darkness blankets the sky. The time to rejuvenate (or hibernate for me) and set intentions for the upcoming year. The darker part of the year also affects everyone differently. Some thrive in colder weather while others suffer. This is the time to focus on you and what better way is there than with a bit of herbalism? These recipes will not only warm you up but will also help your body adapt to everyday stress, boost your mood, and strengthen your body in times of illness.

Elderberry Syrup
Elderberry Syrup
Elderberries are widely known as a cold and flu herb. Loaded with antioxidants and have anti-viral properties. The benefits are vast and elderberries do not get the credit it deserves in other aspects of remedies. But I digress, as this syrup is for the duration of the cold season.
This a wonderful syrup that helps soothe colds and when taken at the onset of an illness can help shorten the duration. But – don’t wait until you feel a cold coming on. Make this frequently to take daily as an extra layer of prevention!
Ginger Candy
Ginger Candy
Not only does Ginger help with Migraines and Motion Sickness but also relieves many symptoms of the cold and flu. Taking Ginger Candy or Ginger tea can help warm you up when you have fever chills, soothe a sore throat, and even help with an annoying cough.

Cinnamon Spiced Chai
Cinnamon Spiced Chai
While this herbal chai does simmer for an hour, it will also make your house smell w o n d e r f u l. My love of ginger and cinnamon is apparent when it comes to my winter blends, not only for their health benefits but also for how they pair well together.
This blend can be spicy so reducing the amount of ginger or omitting the peppercorns is recommended if you don’t like the heat. This is a light tea blend and goes well with a little bit of milk and honey.
Spiced Hot Cocoa
Spiced Hot Cocoa
There’s something about drinking a steaming mug of hot cocoa that’s magical. Add in some extra chocolate and spices to really warm you up and just…swoon. A little mug of comfort and happiness.
You can sub out the Cocoa Nibs for Chocolate Chips or even Mint Chips if you want to get really fancy. The ground Rose Hips are optional here but provide a wonderful light flavor, and a boost of vitamin c and antioxidants.
Adjust the amount of Cinnamon to your liking or if serving to little ones as cinnamon can be spicy.

Simple Hot Toddy
Simple Hot Toddy
This Hot Toddy will warm you up and soothe any sore throat you may have; all while helping with any aches and pains associated with having a cold. The honey and lemon will help with any congestion and the spices do wonders for sore throats.
This Hot Toddy can be a little…hot. So, if you would like it to have less of a kick, reduce the amount of ginger.
