May the waxing moon + spring equinox bring you new beginnings, love, and magical intentions.
This is the phase of intention, of cleansing, of letting go.
Oh – and what a time for this waxing moon to come; to be paired with Ostara, the Spring Equinox! A time of new beginnings and a celebration of life’s renewal. This is a time to sit down; to embrace what the Moon and Spring Equinox have come to represent and to listen – with body and mind.
What Aren’t You Letting Go?
Ostara and the First Quarter Moon come together, united hand-in-hand to ask us this question. What aren’t we letting go?
The Moon, in all her wisdom, is encouraging us to nurture our relationships. Relationships with our friends, loved ones, and most importantly, ourselves. Ostara welcomes us to a path anew. It is a time for new beginnings, a time for revival. They encourage us to release what no longer suits us – the things that do not fill our cups or set our souls aflame. It’s time to start letting go.
From one of my favorite books: Moon Magic by Aurora Kane
courage to take action: With open heart and ready spirit, I seek your wisdom. With open mind and ready hand, guide my actions. With open eyes and ready courage, I’ll take the path less known. Goddess moon, your beacon lights my path to blessings yet unknown.
What Do You Want to Accomplish?
This moon phase is considered active. Meaning, it brings focus to doing. She illuminates intentions and encourages us to build. At the same time, Ostara symbolizes renewal and new beginnings. This is the time to be planning.
We are about to be hitting a powerful and uplifting time. In my neighborhood, the trees are sprouting buds, the hyacinths are emerging from the ground and the birds are singing their good morning melodies. It’s one of my favorite times of the year.
With Spring on the horizon, the pull to start planning the rest of the year is thrumming through my body. Which leads to the question: What do I want to accomplish?
This is the time for me to break out the journal, grab a blanket, and meditate (more points if the meditation is under the moon). I’ll bring my rose quartz to inspire self-love, herbs that clear the mind (rosemary, thyme, and basil work wonders), and start planning.
success: fortune, fame, accomplishment; victory, profit, thrive. Happy, healthy, prosperous; win, prevail, arrive. Advancing moon, instill in me success as you define.

What Does a New Beginning Look Like to You?
I am a Gemini with ADHD, so I am constantly creating new beginnings and going on side quests and mini-adventures. I get a lot of things done…sure. However, not always the things I need to get done. So, I’m using this waxing moon and Ostara to clear and ground myself.
I typically take the time to cleanse myself for a waxing moon. However, with the combining of the Spring Equinox, I want to be especially mindful. I want to cleanse and clear all the stagnant energy I’ve collected during the winter. Do a spiritual shedding of sorts. Herbs that are great for this and tie into the waxing moon are Sage, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Lemon. I’ll do a smoke cleanse of Sage and Rosemary or give myself an herbal bath.
Since Ostara is known as a fertility holiday, it’s a time to plant literal and figurative seeds. However, nothing says ‘new beginning’ than literal seeds; this is the time for gardeners and aspiring gardeners. As part of our Spring Equinox celebrations, my tiny humans and I will be choosing easy-to-care-for herbs this year.
Create a Little Magic
Our intentions are powerful and the Moon is undeniably magical. Let us sit under her illuminating glow and draw upon her strength, confidence, and energy. With the Spring Equinox upon us, let us celebrate the renewal of life and take action by planning, making mundane things magical like baking hot-cross buns (with a dash of rosemary and thyme for added moon magic), and planting those seeds with determination.
I’ll end here with a quote from Kerri Conner:
It’s time to shake off the old and start anew. Let the warmth of the sun melt away the winter’s chill and awaken the seeds of new beginnings within.
